UN Forum on Minorities
The second UN Forum on Minority Issues will take place in Geneva from
12-13 November. Representatives of Governments, UN agencies and treaty
bodies, National Human Rights Institutions and NGOs will discuss the
theme of �Minorities and Effective Political Participation�. The Forum
is the only UN body devoted entirely to the rights of minorities. The
first Forum was held in December 2008 and produced a set of
recommendations on education and minorities <

The Forum is linked to the work of the UN Independent Expert on Minority
Issues, Ms Gay McDougall. She guides the work of the Forum and reports
on its outcomes to the UN Human Rights Council. More information about
