10th Anniversary Conference on the Charter for Regional or Minority
Languages, Lulea - Sweden, 17 October 2008
We are pleased to inform you that the Council of Europe and SWEBLUL are
organising a Conference:
Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the European Charter for Regional or
Minority Languages: Minority languages as instruments for the cultural
development of regions
on 17 October 2008 at the Kulturens Hus, Lulea, Sweden
The conference will take stock of the situation of Europe's regional or
minority languages and the role they play in regional cultural
development, with an accent on the how different local and regional
authorities across Europe support these languages and how NGOs perceive
the Charter and its monitoring mechanism. It is being organised in
Lulea, Sweden, as part of the Liet Lavlut Festival, a cultural festival
featuring a full programme of events running from 16–18 October,
reflecting the cultural and linguistic diversity in the Arctic regions
and Europe.
