OSCE Tolerance  Meeting and NGO Preparatory Meeting on Promoting
Inter-Cultural, Inter-Religious and inter-Ethnic Understanding
Date: 11 June 2006-13 June 2006
Location: Almaty, Kazakhstan

Participants: Representatives of OSCE  participating States,
institutions and field  operations and international and
non-governmental  organizations will participate in this event.
The Asian and Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation are also invited
to participate.

Languages: during the two meetings translation will be provided in
English-Russian and Russian-English

Visas: for participants requiring a visa the ODIHR will issue a letter
of invitation

The Organization for Cooperation and Security in Europe will hold a
meeting to promote Inter-Cultural, Inter-Religious and Inter-Ethnic
Understanding in Almaty, Kazakhstan on the 12th and 13th of June 2006.
It will preceded by an NGO preparatory meeting on June 11th aiming at
providing Civil Society representatives with the opportunity to exchange
views and prepare recommendations for the participating States of the
OSCE.
The participation and contribution of civil society representatives is
highly welcomed in both meetings.

NGO Preparatory Meeting for the Tolerance Implementation Meeting on
Promoting Inter-Cultural, Inter-Religious and Inter-Ethnic Understanding

Purpose of  the Meeting
* To give NGOs an opportunity to exchange information, share best
practices and formulate recommendations for the Tolerance Implementation
Meeting on Promoting Inter-Cultural, Inter-Religious and Inter-Ethnic
Understanding on 12-13 June 2006;
* To explore the role of civil society and especially of youth
organisations in facilitating inter-cultural, inter-faith and
inter-ethnic understanding and in particular their role in preventing
conflicts and promoting reconciliation, as well as in promoting
tolerance in public discourse;
* To facilitate coalition-building across diverse cultural and religious
communities and civil society groups.
