Master's Program in Public Policy

The Master's Program in Public Policy was launched in September 2004 by
the Center for Policy Studies. Designed to enhance the art of governance
and evidence-based policy-making, the program offers students an
interdisciplinary grounding in public policy analysis. Taught by members
of the university and visiting faculty, the program is an opportunity to
apply contemporary theories of public policy to real life problems,
especially those confronting post-socialist countries and other emerging
democracies.
The Program is registered by the Board of Regents of the New York State
Education Department and awards the degree MA in Public Policy.
The 12-month program begins in September and consists of a taught
element, a master's thesis and an internship carried out at an
international organization, government department or similarly relevant
body. The curriculum combines an analysis of the economic, ethical,
legal and political dimensions of policy-making with case studies that
give students opportunities to pursue specific interests in more depth.
In 2005-2006 three streams of specialization will be offered on the MPP:
- Decentralized Governance
- International Public Policy
- Media, Information and Telecommunications Policy
