Nigerian ngos Hold meeting on new tactics

In December 2004, fifteen members of FINGO (Forum for Imo NGOs), a
network of NGOs in the state of Imo, Nigeria, met to examine tactics
used to address domestic violence and protect women in Nigeria. In
addition to a discussion of conventional tactics, the group employed
�tactical mapping� to view relationships that reinforce or are affected

Follow the money!

In the globalized economy, directing human rights campaigns toward
financial institutions to influence large corporations can be a powerful
tactic. Visit our online forum to discuss how Tolekan Ismailova, New
Tactics microgrant recipient, recently held a seminar for 30 NGO
leaders, legislators and journalists to explore how they might adapt

Regional training workshop to be held in Asia

The New Tactics in Human Rights Project, in collaboration with
Forum-Asia (www.forumasia.org), has started preparations for an Asia
Regional Training Workshop, to be held in June 2005. This will be the
fifth workshop in a series of five the New Tactics project has
coordinated around the world. The meeting will engage innovative human
rights practitioners from across the Asian region in sharing and
developing ideas, practices, knowledge and skills to strengthen efforts
to advance human rights. Workshop dates, location and application
information will be posted on our web site in coming month

New Tactics in Human Rights Workbook Now Available to Order

New Tactics in Human Rights: A Resource for Practitioners (also known as
the New Tactics Workbook) is now available to order. This 200-page book
includes 100 stories about how people around the world have addressed
human rights concerns, along with practical worksheets and a theoretical

The New Tactics Project is an international initiative led by a diverse
group of organizations and practitioners from around the world. The
project is coordinated by the Center for Victims of Torture
(http://www.cvt.org) and grew out of its experience as a creator of new
tactics and a treatment center that also advocates for the protection of
human rights from a unique position�one of healing and reclaiming civic
leadership.
