Update on Action Programme to combat discrimination
Tenders invited for a mapping study
A call for tender has been launched to carry out a mapping study on
national legislative measures and their impact in tackling
discrimination outside the field of employment on the grounds of
sex, religion or belief, disability, age and sexual orientation.
The results of this exercise will feed into a feasibility study to be
conducted by the European Commission on the potential for aligning the
legal protection against discrimination on these grounds to that
conferred by the Race Equality Directive.
Full information is available on the Commissions website:

Business diversity: call for examples of good practice
The European Commission has invited contributions from firms in the EU
on examples of good practice in the field of business diversity, with a
view to compiling a compendium of the best initiatives by employers.
An online submission form is now available, together with further
details (in English) at:

Action Programme evaluated
An external evaluation of the Community Action Programme to combat
discrimination (2001-2006) is being carried out by Ernst & Young
Barbier Frinault Associes, France, as part of a series of evaluations of
other programmes in the Employment and Social Affairs sector.
It considers all areas of activity and all levels, namely objectives and
strategy framework; actions carried out under the programme; methods of
implementing the programme and impact achieved.
The evaluators synthesis report for 2004 is now online at:
