JEWISH COMMUNITY IN UCHAREST RECEIED A NEW TORAH SCROLL
BUCHAREST – Members of the Jewish community in Bucharest and guests in
Israel and United States took part on September 1 in the ceremony of
dedicating a new Torah scroll at synagogue Yeshua Tova.
At the entering in the synagogue, it was adorned with a crown and
carried under a baldaquin during the rite. The Great Rabbi of the
Sephardic community in Israel Mordecai Eliahu, invited at the ceremony,
read various blessings and the believers surrounded the table where the
ritual was being officiated seven times, carrying the scroll in their
arms. "A new Torah is a very important moment for each synagogue
worldwide, as any beginning is connected to Torah, the Jewish people’s
history is connected to Torah, Moise led the Jewish people taught by
Torah", said Rabbi Eliahu. The event to bring a new Torah scroll at
Bucharest, for the first time after more than 50 years, was organized by
Foundation Chabad Lubavitch, which last week, has celebrated five years
