The Network of Centres for Research, in the context of the European
Doctoral Programme on Identity, Territory and Conflicts (EDITC), invites
applications from highly qualified students, who are currently
registered for a doctoral degree at educational establishments anywhere
in the European Union, for a Marie Curie Pre-Doctoral Fellowship. EDITC
aims to promote competence in international comparative research among
young researchers working in the fields of migration, managing ethnic
diversity, ethnicity and identities, ethnic conflict and conflict
resolution. The Fellowship offers the opportunity to spend a six-month
period of study at one of the centres of excellence within this network.
Requirements for applicants
Researchers eligible to participate in the system of Marie Curie
Fellowships must be nationals or residents of an EU Member State or
Associated State, or have resided in the EU for at least five years
immediately prior to their selection by the institution (see list of
Eligible Countries).
They must not undertake their fellowship in the country of their
nationality or recent residence. Nationals from an Associated State can
only carry out their fellowship in a Member State.
Applicants must be enrolled in a doctoral program in a subject area
related to that of the training site. At the time of selection the
applicant must be no more than 35 years old.
Open Call for fellows until December 2004
Duration of the stay: 6 months
Subsistence allowance for fellows: 1,200 Euros per month
Application Process
Applicants will be selected on the basis of an application form. The
application form will require:
a.. 1- A Covering letter (see format- Word doc)
a.. 2- A Research Proposal of no more than 1,000 words, including the
following: Introduction, project development, and indicative
bibliography. The applicant should also address the following issues:
importance of the stay for the advancement of his or her doctoral
program, objectives of the research stay, and relevance of the project
to both the network and the host institution.
a.. 3- CV of the applicant; and two references in support of their
application.
Applications should be directly sent to the Coordinator of the Centre
where the student wishes to enrol. For our records, a copy of the

The selection will be based on the academic excellence and consistency
of the proposal, the applicant?s academic background, and the relevance
of the project to the academic profile of the host institution,
including relevant academic programmes, research lines and researchers,
and library and other resources.
