The Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law is accepting
applications through May 14, 2004 to participate in the 2004 summer
program. Following is information about program and courses. Further

INTRODUCTION
The Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law is the only program in
the world in English and Spanish that offers three weeks of intensive
summer courses with world-renowned scholars and activists in the human
rights field. The Academy is an innovative and diverse program tailored
to meet the needs of counselors in international organizations,
government agency workers, international relief agency workers,
policymakers, NGO representatives, academics and students specializing
in human rights. Each year, the Academy offers intensive, specialized
courses on regional human rights law, universal human rights law,
international humanitarian law, as well as other thematic courses. In
addition to classes, the Academy offers panel discussions, on-site
visits to national and international institutions in Washington DC,
conferences by distinguished lecturers and human rights practitioners,
and a film festival.
In 2004, the Academy will be joined by distinguished professionals and
human rights experts, who will teach the following courses:
