Dear Subscribers

Over the past four months, the OSCE ODIHR Legislation Database has gone
through major changes to its format and navigational system. These
changes have been made to take into account comments and suggestions
received from our subscribers as well as OSCE staff members. They have
also been dictated by the need to make the site more user-friendly given
its ever growing amount of data and its increased complexity.
Furthermore, from 2004 onward, Legislationline.org is an integral part
of the ODIHR legislation reform assistance programme, which will be
reflected in further changes to be gradually introduced later this year
[briefly, Legislationline.org will grow into a legislative
clearing-house; new features such as a legislative alert online service
will be developed with a view to stimulating input from the civil
society in the legislative work and to follow more closely legislative
developments acorss the OSCE region - for more information, please
contact us].

As far as our monthly newsletters are concerned, all issues are now
automatically generated from the newly designed site. You may access
them from the homepage by clicking "newsletter" in the grey stripe at
the top of the screen. From there, you may select any month since last
October (all previous newsletters are available upon request). Each
newsletter contains a detailed account of all data and news items posted
in the course of the month selected. During the first week of each
month, you will be notified by e-mail that the newsletter for the past
month is now available from the site.

We hope that this service is convenient and easy to use for all of you.
Should you have any difficulty accessing these pages or should you wish
to keep on receiving this information via e-mail, please let us know.

I would like to apologize to all those of you who have subscribed to our
service since last October and had not received any confirmation of
their subscription until today. The dramatic growth in subscriptions
over the last four months coupled with the disruption of the service due
to the entire reorganization of the site had made it impossible for us
to come back to each of you individually.

All your comments, suggestions, requests for more information are most
welcome.

Best wishes for 2004,

Denis Petit
