New Approaches in France and Germany
Innovative leaders in Western Europe are experimenting with new policies
to cope with what many consider "a Muslim menace:" the rising tide of
Islamic fundamentalism in the rapidly growing Muslim immigrant
communities. The method is reaching out, and the announced objective is
assimilation. The language is exceedingly polite, and news agencies tend
to quote Muslims who present themselves as moderate.
