Adoption of Azerbaijani language law by the Parliament will facilitate
resolution of many problems, believes Anar Rzaev

Baku /10.05.02/TURAN: Today Milli Mejlis has in the second reading
adopted the draft law "On the usage and protection of Azeri language" 

Commenting on the significance of this document, chairman of the
Parliamentary Commission on Culture, Mr. Anar Rzaev has stated in an
interview to TURAN news agency, that elaboration of the draft
continued for more than two years. 

"Arrival of foreign companies and development of private enterprises,
although generally positive, created a range of problems, related to
language. It has become rather usual to use foreign languages in
advertisement. Very often even the names of mass media are in foreign
languages. Radio and TV announcers use language too flexibly,
introducing Russian and English words into Azeri language. All this
inhibits correct perception of the native language and might create
serious problems in language acquisition among younger generation. ",
- says Anar Rzaev. He believes that adoption of this law would provide
a tool to solve such problems.
