CRIMEAN OFFICIALS TO ASK KYIV TO SOFTEN STAND ON UKRAINIAN-LANGUAGE
BROADCASTING. City authorities in Sevastopol, Crimea, intend to ask the
State Information Policy Committee to let "the region's information
space develop in light of its ethnic specifics." They are concerned by
the National Broadcast Council's ruling that television stations have
one year to put in place programming only in the Ukrainian language.
