CALL FOR PROPOSALS - INTAS Program
Grants in Social Sciences & Humanities
    
International Association for the Promotion of Cooperation with Scientists
from the New Independent States of the Former Soviet Union (INTAS)
    
By funding high quality scientific research, INTAS is helping to create a
new era of mutually beneficial cooperation between scientists from INTAS
member states and the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union (NIS
).
    
As of November 3, proposals will be accepted for research projects and   
networks in support of the New Independent States of the former Soviet Union
.  INTAS makes this General Call in conjunction with the following
Joint Calls for Applications: INTAS-Russian Foundation of Basic Research,
INTAS-Belarus, INTAS-Georgia, INTAS-Kazakstan, INTAS-Russian Foundation for
the Humanities and INTAS-Centre Nationale d'Etudes Spatiales. The research
subjects to be supported include among other sciences: Economics, Social
Sciences, Humanities, Environment, Engineering, Energy, Information
Technologies and Mathematics.  The amount of financial support is determined
in relation to the number of partners involved in a project or network. A
total of 21. 8 Million ECU is made available through these programmes.
    
Since its creation in 1993 and up to the end of 1996, INTAS has provided
direct funding to help support more than 1,200 research projects involving
some 15,000 scientists in the New Independent States of the former Soviet
Union (NIS). Using these projects as a starting point, INTAS is creating
partnerships that are focused on the precise needs of the scientists across
this vast area.
    
INTAS Members:  Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany,
Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway,
Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, The European
Community.
    
INTAS Partner Countries:  Armenia, Azerbaidjan, Belarus, Georgia,
Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan
, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
