HUMANITY IN ACTION: INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOLS ON HUMAN AND
MINORITY RIGHTS, SUMMER/FALL
2002 (AMSTERDAM, BERLIN, COPENHAGEN, WASHINGTON D.C., NEW YORK)

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

[eligible for students at Danish, Dutch, German and American
universities]

Humanity in Action, a European-American initiative, invites students
to apply for its summer schools in 2002. The Call for Applications is
addressed to students at German [Danish, Dutch, and US-American]
universities, who are involved in the area of human and minority
rights.

Humanity in Action (HiA) intends to promote human and minority rights
by way of encouraging personal and societal engagement. The focus is
particularly directed to minority issues. HiA-Germany e.V. was created
in summer 2001 after the model of its Danish, Dutch and US-American
counterparts. In June 2002, the summer school will be organized for
the first time with German participation.

The summer school will bring together 60 young adults from Denmark,
Germany, the Netherlands and the USA. 20 participants each cooperate
in three transatlantic teams in Amsterdam, Berlin and Copenhagen. For
the first time, HiA-Germany will provide the opportunity for 10 highly
motivated students based at German universities to participate. The
program will take place throughout June 2002. Participants will have
the opportunity to deal extensively with the issue of human and
minority rights. High quality lectures, seminars and sight visits as
well as access to key institutions will be provided. At the beginning
and at the end of the program all three teams will meet in Copenhagen
and in Berlin respectively. In October 2002, a one-week-meeting will
follow in Washington D.C. and in New York. Costs are covered by
HiA-Germany and HiA-USA. The deadline for application of GERMAN-BASED
APPLICANTS is December 1, 2001.

Applicants based at German universities can find further information
