List matters
Dear MINELRES subscribers,
I am glad to inform you that a new generous grant has been just allocated
for the MINELRES project by the Open Society Institute New York Internet
Program (through the Soros Foundation Latvia). As a project director, I
would like to express my sincere gratitude for this! First of all, the new
grant will allow to improve considerably the project's technical basis (I
never wrote about the current technical conditions for I guess many of you,
particularly in North America, would hardly believe :-( )
In particular, I will purchase a proper scanner supplied with the text
recognition software. Thus, please, feel free to send me any texts you
consider worth placing on the MINELRES website, not only in electronic
format but also in hardcopies - very soon I will be able to scan them.
Besides, I'd like to say that lately I received the complete collection of
the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities' country recommendations,
as well as answers from the corresponding states' authorities (thanks to
Jonathan Cohen from FIER and Craig Oliphant from the OSCE HCNM office!). The
texts will be available on the MINELRES web very soon. As far as I am aware,
these texts were not available via Internet so far.
I received also the collection of the minority-related documents of the
European Parliament (thanks to Stephen Biller, adviser of the Group of the
European People's Party!) which will be soon available on the web too (I
mean the collection will be available, not Stephen :-). BTW, sorry for
keeping the EU page empty so far.
However, I must admit that the developments promised above will be a bit
delayed because of the next business trips of the moderator/webmaster to
Canada and Germany. I believe I will have access to my mailbox from there
too, yet, I will hardly have a chance to deal with the MINELRES all the time
:-), and some one-two day breaks with postings seem inevitable. Nevertheless
, you are welcome to send your postings, I will do my best not to delay them
..
Finally, I will be grateful for any feedback, i.e. your comments, critical
notes, advise etc on the list and website. Since the project's existence is
now guaranteed for at least one year, I am highly interested to improve it
and to gear to your interests and needs as much as possible.
Yours,
Boris
