Budapest / HUNGARY (RNN Correspondent) August the 12th, 1999
Today, during the conference "Next Roma Generation 2000" a youth
section of the Roma National Congress has been founded. The main
reason for the foundation of such an organisation lie in the wish of
the Roma youth to see a democratic, non-centralised structure, free of
any kind of corruption be founded to represent their interests. Roma
youth (up to 35 yr..) represent between 70 and 80% of the World Roma
population - nowadays at 12-15 million. The Roma National Congress
Youth Section aims at representing this up till now silent majority as
well as to defend their interests. The organisation was founded by 27
delegates representing 20 organisations from 11 countries (Bulgaria,
USA, Hungary, Lithuania, Macedonia, Yugoslavia, Slovakia, Austria,
Poland and Germany). The admission criteria allow anyone who fulfills
them to join in.
The internal co-ordination office lies in Tarnow, Poland and the
external relation office in Hamburg, Germany.
The board of the RNC youth section is composed of: S. Kurtisi, M.
Demirovski, A. Jasarevski, N. Kirilov, M. D. Knudsen.
An upcoming home page will present both the RNC youth section its
activities, goals, as well as provide admission forms.

Stenkovec / MACEDONIA (RNN Corespondent) August the 20th, 1999
This are the new information's of what happened yesterday 18.08.1999
in Stenkovec 2 (refugee camp) in Macedonia. Group of 1029 Roma
refugees who are accommodated in Stenkovec 2 organized a peaceful
protest for the following needs
1. They need better approach of the International organizations that
are in Stenkovec 2 .for ex. They need in Stenkovec 2 to have a Roma
humanitarian aid workers. This information was presented to Mr. Robert
Allen - camp manager of CARE International. The Roma told them that
they are afraid of those 20 Albanians humanitarian workers. They can
not be sure that those Albanians Humanitarian workers will give them
something like a revenge. Mr. Robet Alen gave them a very naive
answer: I can not let out of job someone who is just Albanian, this
reasons are not and could not be acceptable. However, if you have some
comments on their professional approach to you than please, write me
and explain me that.
2. They asked the relevant factors what would be with them after this.
What will be them in the future. Does USA think for them now. Where
are the institutions to care for them now, to be with them, to be
around them. In the context of this they wrote and showed the letter
addressed to US Embassy in Macedonia, looking for the possibilities to
have a meeting with US representatives.
3. In addition, they presented and the third point. They needed the
International institutions to be aware for the best solution for them,
to go in other countries or how they prefer to say in third country.
To the end, they told the final sentence WE NEED MORE ATTENTION TO BE
PAID TO US.
Martin Demirovski
