TENSIONS BETWEEN ARMENIAN COMMUNITY AND LOCAL POPULATION OF THE
KRASNODAR KRAI ARE CAUSED BY THE ACTIONS OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES

BAKU. 20 July. MPA - Noyan Tapan: <Tensions between Armenian community
and local population of the Krasnodar krai are caused by the actions
of local administration>,  Antuan Arakelian, vice-president of the
Russian federation Kongress of Ethnic Associations and expert of the
council attached to the Russia's Human Rights Plenipotentiary, said at
the meeting with journalists in Yerevan on 19 July. After him, study
of media materials and public statements of the members of
administration of the Krasnodar krai, in particular, of its head
Kondratenko, revealed that these statements contained hate speech.
According to Arakelian, Armenians living in the krai do not know whom
to turn to for the protection of their rights. The tensions are
further aggravated because of general negative attitude towards "the
persons of Caucasian nationality".
