Human Rights in Latvia


The Latvian Center for Human Rights and Ethnic Studies released an
overview of human rights in Latvia for the first 6 months of 1999
covering new developments in the judicial system, freedom of
expression, the death penalty, freedom of movement, citizenship,
protection of minorities, hate speech, ill-treatment by law
enforcement officials, conditions in prisons, the mentally ill,
refugees, conscientious objectors, and gender equality. For additional
information on any of the topics in the report, please contact us.
