New book: International directory on conflict prevention
The European Platform fo Conflict Prevention and Transformation just
published a book with the title Prevention adn Management of Violent
Conflicts. An International directory. 1998 edition. With profiles of
475 leading organizations and institutions. The book was edited in
cooperation with PIOOM and the Berghof Research Institute for
Constructive Conflict Management.
The book contains several Thematic Essays, eg Frequently Asked
Questions about Conflicts and Ways to Prevent Them; Exploring the
Local Capacity for Peace - The Role of NGOs; Towards a Hippocratic
Oath of Conflict Management?; Contemporary Armed Conflicts - Trends
and Events in 1997 and others, as well as Directory of Organisations
and the List of Relevant Web Sites.
This is the largely extended version of the 1996 edition (which
included only 170 profiles). The European Platform would like to
receive information about activities of the MGOs and research
institutions working in the field on a regular basis.
