Kurdish Human Rights Project's visit to Azerbaijan

May 17, 2000 Resource Center for National Minorities received visitors
from Kurdish Human Rights Project (KHRP, Great Britain). On the
meeting participated: Nadir Kamaldinov, Director of RCNM, Imran
Valiyev, Chairman of CLEE, Kerim Yildiz, Executive Director of KHRP
and Deborah Russo, Researcher in KHRP.
In the meeting was discused situation with protection of rights of
national minorities in Azerbaijan as whole and Kurdish minority in
particular. Nadir Kamaldinov has presented the information on
situation with national minorities of Azerbaijan: their amount,
numbers and position. Kerim Yildiz told about the purpose of arrival
in Azerbaijan, about KHRP and its activity.
Were discussed future cooperation and conducting of the common
projects.
For note: by survey of 1989, 12226 persons belonging to Kurds live in
Azerbaijan, there is Kurdish Cultural Center "Ronai" in Azerbaijan.
