LEZGHIN TERRORIST ORGANISATION SADVAL INTENSIFIES ITS ACTIVITIES
Baku, May 17th, AZER-PRESS. The next congress of the nationalist
organisation of Lezghins Sadval held in the territory of Daghestan
(south of the Russian Federation) is scheduled to the end of May -
beginning of June 1999, the regional correspondent of Azer-Press
reports. It should be remarked that Sadval is one of the two
nationalist organisations of Lezghins (national minority living in the
north of Azerbaijan and south of Russia), created in post-reformation
period. In difference with another Lezghin nationalist organisation
Samur, the goal of which creation of an autonomous republic in the
territories of Azerbaijan and Russia, Sadval is the organiser of a
number of terrorist acts in the territory of Azerbaijan. Active member
of Sadval intend to make speeches at the congress by the initiative to
create a sovereign state - Lezghistan. Besides, they intended to put
forward the initiative of creation of free economic zone in the
territory of this state. According to Azer-Press, active members of
Sadval have already organised close relations with Vahhabit
(religious-political branch in sunnism, proclaiming pure early Islam,
of Mohammed times based in Arabia mid-18th century by an Arabian
religious figure Mohammed Ibn Al-Vahhab) and their alliance may become
a serious threat to national interests of Azerbaijan.
