Several words about one manifestation of discrimnation in
Ukraine
SEVERAL WORDS ABOUT ONE MANIFISTATION OF DISCRIMINATION IN UKRAINE
>
Some journalists from Ivano-Frankivskyi region of Ukraine (West part
of country) reported about the following. In this region the permit
fee for trade and spreading the press published in Ukrainian language
in accordance with order of local government authorities was set up:
160 Hr (near US$40) per one year, however the permit fee for the same
kinds of activity concerning the press printed in other languages
(f.i. Russian or Hungarian) - 160 Hr (near US$40) but per one month!
-----------------
>From the moderator: Can this be considered discrimination of the
minority printed media forbidden by the Framework Convention? BTW, the
Convention is in force for Ukraine since May 1998, as far as I
remember...
