MINELRES-L subscribers may be interested to know that the 1998 version
of "For the Record: The UN Human Rights System" is now online.  This
report is a massive, country-by-country summary of the work of UN
human rights mechanisms during 1998.  The summaries cover the work of
the Commission on Human Rights, the treaty-monitoring bodies, the
Subcommission, ECOSOC, the General Assembly and the Security Council. 
Each summary is hyperlinked to the relevant UN documentation.
 
Available in English and French, the 1997 and 1998 reports  are on the
web at http://www.hri.ca/fortherecord1998/intro.htm.   Hard copy and
CD-ROM versions can also be ordered from the HRI site.
