Katarzyna Wargan, a Washington D.C. resident, sent out the appeal
below to help the Kosovar refugees. She is collecting data on agencies
that are now involved in Kosovo refugee assistance, so that a wide
range of info on possible ways to donate money and time to help the
refugees becomes readily available. If you want to join her effort or

As you know, the violation of basic human rights that now takes place
in Kosovo is comparable to the Holocaust during the WW II. Hundreds of
thousands of people are forced out of their homes. The whole villages
are burned. A lot of Albanians are killed in a massive Serbian action
against this miserable nation. Those who have survived form an endless
stream of refugees escaping from their home land - mostly to Macedonia
and Albania. The majority of refugees consists of women and children.
Serbian soldiers took almost all men from 16 to 60 years of age in
unknown directions. There are suspicions that a lot af Albanians from
Kosovo are held by Serbian military forces and used as a human shields
to prevent NATO from further airstrikes.

There has been an unbelievably huge number of refugees from Kosovo
over the last couple of days. Recent reports say that about 4.000
Albanians from Kosovo cross Macedonian border every hour. Albania is
the poorest country in Europe. Macedonia also experiences very grave
economic problems. Neither of these countries can afford that big
numbers of Albanians seeking shelter - yet the number of refugees is
expected to increase fast.

This exodus is a human catastrophy. Think about it, please: we have
our families, homes, our meals, our work and amusements. Kosovo
Albanians do not have any of these things. In the near future the
situation will only get worse.

There are organizations that help Albanians refugees from Kosovo by
sending as many necessary life supplies as possible. But still, it is
only one drop in the ocean of needs. That`s why your help is so
extremely important and urgently needed.

Please, consider the possibility to donate your time or money to those
who can help. Any amount you are able to contribute will be deeply
appreciated.

Please don`t forget - maybe there is a person around you who suffers
because of the fate of the family left in Yugoslavia.

which currently work on delivering humanitarian help to Macedonia and
