CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
European Roma Rights Center Summer University for Romani Activists
The Human Rights Education Department of the European Roma Rights
Center will host a Roma Rights Summer University in Budapest from 7
July 2002 to 14 July 2002.
The main goal of the Roma Rights Summer University is to assist in the
formation of a new generation of Romani leaders, human rights
activists and professionals, who can skilfully use international and
domestic human rights mechanisms to advance the interests of Roma,
both domestically and internationally. Also, we would like to assist
participants in becoming familiar with basic concepts of human rights
and major problems in the area of Roma rights.
We welcome applications from Romani individuals whose command of
English is of a level sufficient for productive participation in
workshops and seminars held in English, and who are devoted to the
issue of human rights. Applicants are preferably university students
of law, public administration and social sciences, or hold a degree in
such a field. ERRC recipients of university scholarships for Romani
students of law and public administration are specifically encouraged
to apply. (For more information on ERRC scholarships for Romani
students of law and public administration, see:
