NOMINATIONS FOR NGO FORUM: DEADLINE 15 FEBRUARY
Nomination forms are available from http://www.icare.to and from ECRI
([email protected]) http://www.ecri.coe.int
as well as from UNITED
NGO-FORUM (10-11 OCTOBER 2000)
PRECEDING GOVERNMENTAL CONFERENCE (11-13 OCTOBER 2000):
"ALL DIFFERENT ALL EQUAL: FROM PRINCIPLES TO PRACTICE EUROPEAN
CONTRIBUTION TO THE WORLD CONFERENCE AGAINST RACISM, RACIAL
DISCRIMINATION, XENOPHOBIA AND RELATED INTOLERANCE"
>From the letter sent out by ECRI:
"The European Conference will feed in the World Conference in 2001. We
are looking for NGOs that are able to provide for a strong and
comprehensive communication with other organisations in their context.
The first selection criteria suggested by the resource group concerns
the principle to invite one NGO from each member State of the Council
of Europe. Other additional criteria are suggested such as that
vulnerable groups should be proposrtionately represented, for example
black, Asian, Muslim, Jewish and Roma, Gypsy and traveller groups,
other racial, ethnic and national minorities, indigenous peoples,
refugees and asylum seekers, migrants other non-citizens and
undocumented persons and persons of immigrant origin, as well as NGOs
representing women. The proposed groups should have the credibility of
other NGOs and should represent the interest of the NGO community."
and
"However, due to limitations in space, some criteria need to be
established in oreder to decide on the participation, or not, of NGOs
interested in attending. Moreover, only 75 NGOs will be able to have
their cotst covered. A larger number will be able to attend the NGO
Forum, provided that they finance their own participation costs."
NOMINATIONS SHOULD BE SENT TO THE ECRI SECRETARIAT
