BETA-NEWS: Muslim parties discuss ways to bring democracy to
Yugoslavia

BETA DAILY NEWS
January 31

MUSLIM PARTIES DISCUSS WAYS TO BRING DEMOCRACY TO YUGOSLAVIA. Novi
Pazar hosted on Jan. 29 a round table supposed to produce a joint
strategy of all Muslim political parties in Sandzak in a struggle for
democratic changes in Yugoslavia.

At the meeting organized by the Democratic Alliance of Sandzak,
representatives of 11 parties and eight associations concluded that
the Muslim population was threatened, and that they could be the
victims of some future clashes in Yugoslavia.

The participants also voiced their readiness to take an active part in
effecting democratic changes in Yugoslavia, and underlined that
cooperation with the Serbian democratic opposition and Montenegrin
authorities was needed.

"The fact that we gathered together regardless of our differences is
far more important than any agreement on a joint strategy we could
have reached today," coordinator of the Democratic Alliance of Sandzak
Esad Dzudzevic said in a closing speech.
