VACANCIES
MRG is currently seeking to appoint three posts:
INTERNATIONAL ADVOCACY MANAGER (INTERIM POST - 7 months) (ref: IAM-G)
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that MRG's policies
regarding minorities and indigenous peoples are clearly and coherently
stated in its advocacy activities by supporting the work and directly
managing three members of staff, who are involved in MRG's
international advocacy and advocacy training activities. The
successful candidate will ideally be educated to degree level with a
good knowledge of human rights, including standards relating to
minority communities and indigenous peoples. We are looking for a
strong communicator with a broad range of skills including at least
two years' experience of advocating rights in international fora
together with two year's experience of project management and managing
staff. The post also requires excellent diplomacy skills with diverse
groups of people. Salary from � 24,141.
MINORITY RIGHTS AND DEVELOPMENT ADVOCACY OFFICER
PART TIME (4.5 days per week) (ref: MRD-G)
The post holder is responsible for developing and implementing a
global programme of international advocacy with IGO's, Governments and
NGOs on the theme of minority rights and development. Work will
include commissioning research for publication, drafting interventions
for submission at international fora and organising and participating
in conferences, seminars and workshops. Candidates should have a
degree in development studies or a similar discipline with up to date
knowledge on the theory and discourse relating to a rights based
approach to development. Knowledge of human rights law, including
international law relating to minorities and indigenous peoples, is
also essential. Candidates should also have one years' experience of
international advocacy and experience of fundraising and project
management. The initial contract is for two years. Salary from �20,319
(pro rata), plus generous pension after six months.
PROGRAMMES ASSISTANT (ref: PA-G)
The post holder will provide support for overseas projects coordinated
by MRG's programmes team. Work will include research assistance,
wordprocessing documents, preparing budgets, arranging travel and
accommodation, liaising with partners, making payments, coordinating
mailings, maintaining database records, handling telephone and postal
inquiries, ordering equipment and supplies, and providing occasional
reception cover. Candidates will need two years' experience of
administrative and/or secretarial work, knowledge of Word, Excel,
database and e-mail, and good communication and numeracy skills. The
initial contract is for two years. Salary from �16,356, plus generous
pension after six months.
