Programme on Improving Inter-Ethnic Relations in CEE
An interesting book has been just published (my gratitude to Nils Muiznieks
who passed me a copy):
Improving Inter-Ethnic Relations in Central and Eastern Europe. A Joint
Programme of The King Baudouin Foundation and The Soros Foundations, in
collaboration with The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and The European
Cultural Foundation. Editor: Luc Tayart de Borms. Brussels, 1997.
The content:
- Foreword
- The Programme (description of the Programme's objectives, application and
evaluation procedures etc.)
- Part 1: The projects 1997 (projects implemented with the Programme's
support in 1997 in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia,
Lithuania, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine,
Yugoslavia)
- The projects 1996 (projects implemented with the Programme's support in
1996 in Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine)
- Part 2: Minorities situation per country (Bulgaria, by Margarita
Karamihova; Czech Republic, by Czech Helsinki Committee; Estonia, by Rein
Ruutsoo; Hungary - governmental report; Latvia, by Nils Muzinieks; Lithuania
, by Natalia Kasatkina; Macedonia, by Goran Janev; Poland, by Piotr Bajda;
Romania (on Roma), by Liviu Matei; Slovakia, by Ondrej Dostal; Ukraine, by
International Renaissance Foundation Ukraine; Yugoslavia, by Dusan Janjic)
- Annexes: International Jury 1997; The partners
I assume (though not checked yet myself) that the book might be available
from the publisher, The King Baudouin Foundation (rue Brederodesraat, 21,
1000 Brussels, Belgium, tel.+32.2.511.18.40, fax +32.2.511.52.21). Two
different email addresses are indicated in the book: [email protected] and
[email protected].
I believe that the Programme is an excellent initiative which can be of
great importance for NGOs working in the field.
Boris
