Essay contest of the EastWest Institute
To all of the future decision makers of Europe!!!
Imagine a EUROPE without borders!
Where:
· there will be a peaceful Europe without ethnic conflicts
· there will be a democracy where all sectors of civil society are
represented
· there will be a Europe without social inequality
· there will be a Europe without corruption, violence
· there will be a Europe neighborhood without dividing lines
But how?
Write an essay of how YOU would construct such a European
neighbourhood from the point of view of the country or your residence.
This Essay contest will give you an opportunity to write an Essay in
English of about max 800 words, of your OWN Vision of how YOU would
construct the Europe without borders of YOUR Choice.
An international Jury will evaluate your essay and give awards for
first, second and third place.
- 1st Prize: 300 Euros and publication of your full essay in an EWI
publication on the effects of EU enlargement AND a Letter of
Recognition by Martti Ahtisaari, former President of Finland, European
Chairman of the East West Institute.
- 2nd Prize: 200 Euros and book prize
- 3rd, 4th and 5th Prize: 100 Euros and book prize
All essays submitted will be acknowledged by name in an EWI
publication. The list of winners and participants will be announced on
the EWI website

Participants to the Essay contest should be enrolled students under 35
years of age, residing either in Albania, Belarus, Bosnia, Bulgaria,
Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Federal Republic of Yugoslavia,
FYROM (Macedonia), Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland,
Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia and
Ukraine.
