Article 1. The State Language Commission at Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania handles all the issues concerning codification, standard use and enforcement of the National Language Law, it also executes the teaching programs of the national language, administers and uses the Budget and other assets which are allocated for the implementation of the program.

The State Language Commission confirms the list of the traditional place-names of Lithuanian, Prussian and other ethnical areas of the Balts, and the order according to which the use of the place-names must be implemented in the territory of the Republic of Lithuania.

The State Language Commission coordinates the work of the Language Inspection inspectors, the work of controllers in counties and self-governments, and authorises the Language Inspection inspectors and language controllers according to an established order.

Article 2. The staff of the State Language Commission at Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania is confirmed and changed by the Seimas Chairman in compliance with the proposal submitted by the Committee of Education, Science and Culture.

Article 3. The decisions of the State Language Commission at Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania become obligatory to all enterprises, institutions and organisations, and the means of mass media. Breach of the obligation engenders an administrative responsibility as stated in the Law.

Article 4. In the State Language Commission at Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, functions the Language Inspection, whose main objective is to control the implementation of the provisions of the State Language Law and the State Language Commission.

Article 5. The number of personnel and salary in the State Language Commission at Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Language Inspection at the Commission is confirmed by the Seimas Chairman in compliance with the proposal submitted by the Committee of Education, Science and Culture and the Committee of Budget and Finance.

Article 6. Acknowledge as terminated the provision of the Supreme Council Presidium of the Republic of Lithuania Concerning the Organisation of the State Lithuanian Language Commission, issued 20 June 1990 (State Announcements, No 19-496).

Hereby I declare the Law of the Republic of Lithuania adopted
