Equality of citizens in the criminal procedure

Article 10

All citizens who take part in the criminal procedure are equal before the law. No privileges and restrictions are allowed based on nationality, origin, religion, sex, race, education, social or material status.

The court and the organs of the preliminary proceedings apply the laws strictly and equally towards all citizens.

Language used in the criminal procedure

Article 11

(1) Penal proceedings shall be conducted in the Bulgarian language.
(2) Persons who do not speak the Bulgarian language may use their native or another language. In such cases an interpreter shall be appointed.
